Experience the Joy of Dance on Mother's Day with Ballet Bouquet!

As an art form, ballet has endured for over half a millennium, through famines, wars, great changes in society, and through pandemics. Ballet uses movement and the human body to tell stories. Performing ballet requires exceptional skill, strength, endurance, and resilience.

Misako Ballet has defined resilience. For over 17 years, from their studio in the Harper’s Choice Village Center, Misako Ballet Studio has been offering classes for all ages. Misako Ballet Company is a non-profit Columbia-based professional dance company, with Misako Aoki as artistic director. Misako Ballet Company creates classical ballet and Japanese-themed performances to bring joy to our community.

When the world closed in March 2020, classes, recitals, and the performances of the associated Misako Ballet Company were suspended. Misako Aoki and her team quickly pivoted to online Zoom classes, working to bring their dancers together while apart. Re-imagining the studio and theater into virtual spaces, Misako Ballet Company brought art, beauty, and joy to our community by broadcasting virtual performances.

At the Chrysalis, Misako Ballet Company will present Ballet Bouquet: A Mother’s Day Celebration. This outdoors, socially distanced production offers a light and lovely arrangement of ballet works including Classical Selections, a Contemporary Piece by guest choreographer Florian Rouiller, and Classical Ballet With A Japanese Twist.
